Welcome Spring!

This year we haven't had the snow as we did last year. We had snow come down from the sky and not "stick" (which is my kind of snow) a week ago. Yet instead, this year we have had the cherry blossoms come early (February), the Scotch Bloom is out, the daffodils are up as well as the other bulbs. The garden centers are all buzzing like it was June.

Then there is a day like today where there is rain, clouds, rain, wind, a little sun, then more rain. THAT is true Seattle weather in March and don't think anything different!

However, we were given a gift yesterday from the Creator and we took advantage of it. We have had good weather on the last few Saturdays. Renee, her mom, and I went to Port Townsend to go to a beach she read about regarding beach glass. We decided we were going to all the various beaches to look for what is out there.

We went to the North Beach and we began searching right away. Renee knew what to look for and found pieces right away. It took me a few moments to get accustomed to searching for it. I have found pieces on the beach before in California, but it wasn't anything that I cared about then. Here, the pieces were smaller. First I found amber and orange glass, which are most likely from beer bottles or wine bottles. Then I found pieces of clear or frosted glass, all rounded from the turning in the sea. Then I spoted bright green pieces that could be from 7 UP bottles from the past. There were also a few lighter green pieces. There are pieces that may have come from Coca Cola bottles. Light blue and very indigo pieces were found too, but they were the rarest and smallest pieces.

So for 3 hours or so, we did nothing but look down and sift thought rocks and sand. We walked about 2 miles (estimating) gathering our little treasures.

Once I was told, "what's man's trash is another man's treasure". I like to think about the beauty it will have in a jar; all mixed together. And I think about it's history too. Where did it come from, and how long ago?

I also found pieces of pottery and one piece had a red pattern on it. Interesting! I wonder who owned the dishes? I will never know but it is fun to imagine what happened or who's it was.

Well, I haven't had the computer, but I will soon try to post a photo of these little sea gems. I have so many photos to share.

I hope you have a great week! Happy Birthday today Renee! And aren't we all glad itKs Spring (USA)! Happy Autumn to my other friends downunder.

Danna, Sounds like you had a lovely day gathering up beach glass! I've never heard of it. Hope you get lots of sunshine soon. Hugs!
