Weekend Project Completed

OK... here is a victory... we completed a weekend project last weekend. It wasn't one of the many that I have on my list, but it counts. This one is about an antique window that we bought at an antique dealer in La Connor a few years back. We thought we might hang it in front of the window, but at seemed as though that would be a good idea. The small stain glass in front of a big window didn't seem right. OK, so it sat on the ledge above the kitchen sink for a few years.

Then all of a sudden last weekend the thought occurred to me to try something different. Something creative. I realize that the light that is suppose to come through a stain glass window is suppose to be sunlight... but here in Seattle, any light will do. So, I decided to put it somewhere where it could be displayed with a light behind it. I have been trying to come up with ideas for that area above the cabinets in the kitchen... you know the one. And I thought, the stain glass window might be just right for that area.

So, we went to IKEA to find the small light to place behind it. It had to have a long cord so that we could turn it off and on from below... and we did. So, below is the final outcome of our decorating. I am pleased with it. It will be handy in the darker times of the year. What do you think?
