Google Map

Google Map Thumbnail Photo

Aaron came into me and said "Hey come look at this!" We went to his computer where he had pulled up Google Map and put in our address. When all the information came up, there was also a picture of the front of our house. If you "click" on the picture, there comes up a full view picture. Above is the thumbnail of our house. One can move the picture around to see the front of the house too (because we live on a corner). Interesting? Cool? Or Weird? To me it is a little of all of those. I Googled my mom's house and I actually saw the car in the photo that drove around taking pictures of the streets. My mom lives in California. So we checked Dave's dad's house in Kansas... and yep, there it was.

There are clues here as to when they took the photos... the grass is brown, there are flowers in the planters etc, and we are not home except Aaron (red car). So it is a weekday last summer. I wonder how much a person gets for that job?

So what do you think? Aaron thought I should mention this in a post. He said it is "post worthy", in which I agree.

You all have heard, no doubt, either from me or the news that Seattle has been having snow the past few days. And it looks like we are going to have cold days and possibly more snow ahead. I thought I would leave you today with a picture of the campus I work at and a view from our office window.

Hi Danna,
Yes, the Google maps thing is amazing but yes a little freaky. I've found our house too before, but they are yet to do the street view one of our street yet, just the one form above. It is amazing.

The snow looks so pretty. We had 12" of snow last night (you can see pics on my blog) and we have more snow expected on Sunday. We really want to try and get to New York and back before Christmas but it depends on how the weather is. They do plough the roads but we got caught in a blizzard like storm on Tuesday night and had to limp along the freeway doing 30mph at the most. It was certainly a very new experience for us since we never have that in Sydney where we live.

Anyway, if I don't get by again before Christmas, I wanted to wish you and all your dear family all the joys and blessings of Christmas. xx
