I don't know what the rest of the world has heard about the rain we have been having for the last 36 hours. It is amazing! 6 - 8 inches has fallen in areas and more in other areas. The three major highway passes coming over the Cascades from the eastside of the state are closed, and I 5 is closed coming up from Oregon to Seattle in Lewis County. It should be 10 feet high above the pavement of I 5 when it crests today. 30,000 people have been evacuated from there homes because of the rivers flooding, the snow becoming heavy with rain and sliding... as well as mud. It is a mess. I think we are going to need an ark if this keeps up. But the weather people are saying that it should be getting better in the next few days. The weekend will be pretty nice. We seemed to be OK with the rain because, after all, it wasn't snow which had been the last weather problem we had around Christmas. Keep good thoughts and prayers for us up here.

Sorry that the weather has been so bad for you all lately. Hope things will improve soon. We are all fine here, my sister was in last week and spent a few days with me. The kids are back in school so things are getting back to normal after the holidays. Stay dry!
